Product Details

* Top Quality Tool Steel * Made in France * For making perfectly flat cuts of 90 or 45 degrees

This is the French version of this popular tool-The worlds best selling jig vise miter cutter.

The Asic 3308 French made jig vise miter cutter could be your favorite tool on your bench! Made of super hard tool steel rated at 58 HRC, this 1-7/8" X 2-3/4" tool holds stock up to 1/2" thick so you can file perfectly flat 90 degrees or 45 degree cuts on tubing, wire and sheet. The lower opening is for making 90-degree cuts; the upper opening holds your stock for making 45-degree cuts. There is 35mm distance between the small integrated stop along both the flat 90 degree slot and the 45 degree slot to the edge of the tool so you can hold and cut a flat piece of sheet up to that 35mm length.

Can be mounted in a vise or held in the hand. Saw or file against this vise and PRESTO, a perfectly flat surface.

Supplied with an adjustable stop for making repeat cuttings of the same length, and a hex key for fixing the stop.

Warning: Certain files including Glardon-Vallorbe Valtitan files are as hard or harder than the jig vise miter cutter. In that case they will mark the vise. Strong force with just about any file will mark the vise. Marks made on the vise are not an indication of a defect but only that the tool being used against the vise is harder than the tool itself.

File killer!

The Swiss version is the best ; I owned one years ago. My only complaint with these tools is it ruins files so, if you have an old file that's the best thing to use since it's already old and it's worn out you're not going to ruin an old file but if you use a new or even a Valtitan file it's going to affect the file and ruin it after a time. When I did own this tool years ago I also had a milling machine and I arranged to cut small wire and tubing in the milling machine thereby I didn't have to ruin my files. In the end I do recommend buying a small milling machine to do these small tubes and wires and and then just create a little jig that helps with the cuts.

Got a good one

The first one I got had a serious problem-you couldn't cut a flat piece on it as the jaws were not allinged. Seems they had a bad batch in the fall of 2015. Got it replaced and it is all true and allows for flat filing. Love this tool and can't live without it. Very good customer service as they explained it all and paid for shipping all around.

Great Tool but has a defect

I've written this review twice before and Otto Frei has neglected to post it. Let's see if my third review gets posted. This is a useful and well made tool but it has a manufacturer's defect, which is the reason the price has been reduced (in my opinion). The miter vise sticks, it's almost impossible to open. I was aware of this because a friend had the same problem. But, if you're willing to do some filing you can correct the problem and have a great tool at a very reduced price.
