Auxiliary and protective lenses are essential accessories for Meiji and OttoSetters microscopes, allowing jewelers, stone setters, and engravers to increase working distance between the lens and the work surface. By threading directly onto the microscope head, auxiliary lenses provide more room for hands and tools while simultaneously expanding the field of view — a critical advantage when manipulating gravers, prongs, or delicate settings. Although auxiliary lenses reduce the top-end magnification, this is rarely a limitation in practice, as nearly all bench work is performed at the lower end of a microscope's magnification range. When higher magnification is needed, simply remove the auxiliary lens.
The .0X Protective Lens (129.409B) installs in the same location as an auxiliary lens but does not alter the microscope's natural focal length or magnification. It is recommended as a protective cover for your optics whenever an auxiliary lens is not in use.
These are genuine Meiji lenses compatible with Meiji and OttoSetters microscopes. Performance data provided applies to Meiji scopes only — use on OttoSetters scopes will produce slightly different but similar results.
