Salamander Graphite Crucibles

Salamander Super A crucibles are made of natural flake graphite and silicon carbide bonded with fine clay right here in the USA.

They offer consistent performance when melting ferrous, nonferrous and precious metals alike. Maximum temperature is 2912F(1600C).

Tech Tip:

New crucibles should initially be heated slowly and evenly to 600C 1112F.  After initial break in, crucibles can be heated to a uniform bright red condition over the whole crucible (900C 1650F) at which point the crucible can be charged (insert metal to be melted) and brought to the required melting temperature.

Only add flux once the metal is molten.

Crucibles that are to be fed with molten metal must be brought to an equivalent to or slightly above temperature of the molten metal in order to minimize thermal stress.
