Why Should I Register First?

By Registering you will be able to use all of OttoFrei.com features:

Registration is FREE and only requires your Name, Email, and Password! 

 

Registering for Level 1 membership is automatic while Level 1+ membership for wholesale findings pricing is subject to verification, this can take up to 24 hours to be activated on your account.  Level 1+ membership only affects Finding Store pricing.  The pricing is the same in the Tools Store for level 1 and level 1+ members. During that time you can still buy Tools and Findings ( Findings will not be at wholesale prices) while your credentials are being verified. If it is urgent we recommend you call us at 800.772.3456 or 510.832.0355 during our business hours to place your wholesale findings order. 


When is My Order Processed and Shipped?

Orders are Processed the Business Day We Receive it.

 

Most orders placed before 4:00 PM Pacific Time Monday - Friday will ship the same day. USPS Priority Mail orders ship the following business day. 

 

Orders placed after 4:00 on Friday, or on Saturday and Sunday will ship the Next Business Day.  

 

When your order ships we will send you an email with a tracking number and a copy of your invoice. 


How Much will My Shipping Cost?

OttoFrei.com has a shipping estimator/calculator for zip codes in the United States. The shipping estimator is located in your Shopping Cart. To get an exact cost you must be registerd.  If you are outside of the United States you must register first to see shipping costs.

 

How To Use the Shipping Estimator (not Registerd or not Loged In): 

Add a product to the shopping cart and enter a USA zip code in the Zip Code Field under shipping. You can see estimated cost for FedEx, UPS, and USPS. 

 

How To Use the Shipping Calculator (Registered and Loged In): 

First you must register for either a Level 1 or Level 1+ Membership.  Add your desired shipping address(s) to your Address Book under My Account.  When you Add a Product to the Shopping Cart instead of typing in a Zip Code you choose your desired address from your Address Book. 

 

Items to Large or Heavy to ship via UPS, FedEx, and USPS:

These items wil ship via truck freight. We will contact you, via email or phone, to discuss your specific delivery requirements and quote you truck freight shipping charges. 


How Long will My Order Take to Arrive?

UPS or FedEx Ground

1 to 7 business days from when your order ships. Please note that Saturdays, Sundays and National Holidays are not considered business days.
 

FedEx Priority Overnight or UPS Next Day Air®

Next Business Day AM. FedEx or UPS will deliver by 10:30 am on the next business day from when your order ships to most addresses in the 48 contiguous States. Restrictions occur to Hawaii, Alaska and certain rural and residential addresses.

 

FedEx Standard Overnight or UPS Next Day Air Saver®

Next Business Day PM. FedEx or UPS will deliver by 5:00pm on the next business day from when your order ships to most addresses in the 48 contiguous states. Restrictions occur to Hawaii, Alaska and certain rural and residential addresses.

 

OttoFrei FedEx Standard Overnight Shipping Special
 

Orders under 5 lbs and over $100.00 ship FedEx Standard Overnight to most addresses in the 48 contiguous states for a flat rate of $11.95
 

This special rate automatically appears in the shipping options box when your order qualifies. Not all addresses qualify.
 

FedEx 2nd Day or UPS 2nd Day Air®

2nd Business Day PM. FedEx or UPS will deliver within 2 business days from when your order ships to most addresses in the 48 contiguous states. Restrictions occur to Hawaii, Alaska and certain rural and residential addresses.                                                                                                                                                                             

 

UPS 3 Day SelectSM  

3rd Businees Day PM UPS will deliver within 3 business days from when your order ships to most addresses in the 48 contiguous states.  Restrictions occur to Hawaii, Alaska and certain rural and residential addresses.
 

United States Postal Service (USPS) Priority Mail 

3 to 6 Days.The United States Postal Service delivers six days a week.  We recommed this service for customers in Alaska, Hawaii and all U.S. territories. USPS Priority Mail shipments ship the following business day from the day the order is placed.

 

Please note: When figuring your estimated package arrival day, please remember that Saturdays, Sundays, and National Holidays are not considered business days and that the first business day is the day after your package is shipped.

Payment Information

We recommend using Pay Pal for best results. 

If you use a credit card, please note that an independent third party company verifies all of our credit card transactions. Our third party verification service may not have access to your local bank credit card verification information. If our system declines your credit card, you may need to use a credit card drawn on an American bank, such as American Express. You may also have to contact your bank to pre-approve the purchase amount on your credit card.

 

Shipping Method

We will only ship via Global Express Mail. No other shipping methods are available, unless you contact us with your FedEx or UPS account number. Global Express Mail is fast, traceable, and insurable. Most packages will arrive in your country within 3 to 5 business days.

 

Estimating Shipping Charges

Our system will automatically estimate your shipping charges for almost everything we sell. You must register for this feature to work. Our response to most requests for estimated shipping charges will direct you to register on our site to access this feature. Orders beyond a certain weight limit or for large items like workbenches will direct you to email us for quotation.

 

Duties, Taxes, and Custom Fees

We do not collect for your countries duties, taxes and fees. If there are duties, taxes or custom fees to be paid, you will have to pay them to your post office before your package is released. We have no way of estimating what, if any, duties, taxes and custom fees you may have to pay to your post office or government agency. Please contact your local post office to figure what you may have to pay.


When Is A Signature Required For Delivery?

Orders valued at over $200.00 automatically require a signature at the time of delivery.

 

UPS and FedEx will not pay for lost or stolen deliveries if a signature is not required.

 

Sorry, requests to not require signatures cannot be fullfilled. We recommend that you have your package valued over $200.00 shipped to a location where you or someone you trust can sign for it.


My Purchasing Department uses Credit Cards, Why Does My Order Fail?

If your company issues corporate credit cards for use by your purchasing department, your bank will often put restrictions on types of purchases that can be made with your company card. Because we are in the "Jewelry" Tools and Supplies business, and the purchase is being made online, the word "jewelry" sends up a red flag to your issuing bank, and the purchase is often automatically declined from your bank.

 

To Resolve This Issue

  • You may need to get your purchase pre-authorized from your bank,
  • Call us with your card information -  as we will accept your purchasing department credit card over the phone.
  • Place your order using the Purchase Order Method, and make the payment later (via Phone).

Yellow Gold Filled Explained

Yellow Gold Filled and White Gold Filled are man made metal products produced in the United States. They are vastly superior to any kind of gold plated product, making for a longer lasting and durable jewelry product.

 

Simply put, a layer of solid gold, either 12K (50% pure gold) gold or 14K (.585% pure gold) but at least 10K (.417% pure gold) is mechanically bonded with heat to a thicker piece of base metal.  The gold layer is fused to the base metal, resulting in a product that has all the beauty of its actual karat gold plus long lasting resistance to wear.  The finished product must be by weight 1/20 (5%) solid 12K or 14K gold by weight or in the case of 10K GF, 1/10 (10%) solid 10K.  This process was invented in the United States and used extensively in the manufacture of pocket watch cases, many of which are still gleaming bright a hundred years after they rolled off the production line.

 

Gold Filled mill product is made in a variety of flat sheet and wire shapes and sizes. The stock products are used by large findings and chain manufactures using specialized equipment to create finished products.  Otto Frei sells 1/20 12K Yellow Gold Filled wire in even number wire gauges form 16 to 24 by the half ounce package. Because this is raw material, it is not required by law to be stamped 1/20 12K, as such markings can only be made after a piece is fabricated.  We also sell a wide variety of YGF and WGF findings including many styles of YGF bulk and finished chain. 

 

WGF product will usually always be Rhodium plated, as the beautiful yellow of pure gold will always want to show through a white gold alloy, no matter how much Nickel or Silver is added to pure gold to make it appear white.  

 

Rolled Gold or Rolled Gold Plate is similar to Gold Filled, but have far less gold by weight, usually around 1/60 12K by weight.

 

Metal Testing for Gold Filled

If you are testing for gold content and you think the item may be YGF, you will have to make a mark of the product with a file to check below the top layer of gold, as electronic testers will likely test YGF product as 12K gold or 14K gold.  

 

Gold Filled product is easy to recognize because by law YGF/WGF finished products must be marked 1/20 10K, 1/20 12k or 1/20 14k.  Most all Gold Filled finished product you will see is marked this way, as con artists/scammers will usually try to cheat using heavy gold plating, which even at its heaviest is 17 to 100,000 times thinner than Gold Filled material. 


What is Otto Frei's Return Policy?

If you are not satisfied with one of our products we will accept it back within 30 days of purchase. When returning a product, you can request an identical replacement item, exchange the product for another product, or request a refund. If the return results from the receipt of damaged or defective product, or from our mistake, we will pay the shipping charges both to have your item sent back to us, and to send you a replacement item.
Exceptions To Our Return Policy

We regret we cannot accept returns on books or video tapes.
Who Pays Original and Return Shipping?

If the return is needed as a result of damage, defect, or our mistake, we pay the shipping charges - both to have your item sent back to us, and to send you a replacement item. In the case of an outright return for refund, we refund the full purchase price of the product, but you are responsible for return shipping on the product you are returning and we do not credit the original shipping charges toward the exchange.
When Does Otto Frei Charge Restocking Fees?

Rarely. We can only accept items that are returned without signs of wear and tear and with all of the original contents and packaging. Contents consists of any included parts and accessories, as well as the warranty card and manual without user's notes or markings. Packaging includes all inner and outer packaging, complete with the original barcode affixed. Items not returned in the condition described here may be subject to restocking fees (up to 20% of the purchase price, as determined by our cost of replacing the missing items including a processing fee for the labor intensive process) or refusal of the return. Larger items and items that we ship directly from our vendors can be subject to a 30% restocking fee. This fee may apply if you refuse delivery or as a result of delivery exceptions, as well as from a typical return.

San Francisco Downtown Delivery:

 

If you are located within the purple shaded areas you are eligible for our downtown San Francisco delivery service from our Oakland warehouse. Service is limited to small packages under 5 lbs and cannot contain products classified hazardous by the DOT. Larger packages and hazardous goods will be sent UPS ground service at standard rates and be delivered next business day.

We will make every effort to deliver your eligible orders the same business day when your order is placed before 12 noon.
