The John Frei Double Bank Workbench is the Best Jewelers Workbench You Can Buy.

All John Frei custom workbenches start with a solid 2" thick butcher-block top made of select grade oak or maple. We use solid real wood for the legs, top trim, bottom trim, drawer faces, face frames and arm supports. Door side and back panels are made of cabinetmaker quality oak or maple-veneered plywood and looks as good from the back as it does from the front. All of this put together by professional cabinetmakers. The end result is a jewelers workbench that stands apart from all others, a beautiful, solid and sturdy workbench that can take whatever the toughest jeweler can dish out.

This is the Maple John Frei Double Bank Workbench.  Maple has a finer grain than Oak, while Oak is a slightly heavier wood.  Both woods are an excellent choice for a workbench, and choosing one over another is a matter of personal taste. All our John Frei custom workbenches are stained with Watco Natural stain. Custom finishes are available for an extra charge. The great thing about our workbenches is you can easily customize the finish yourself, as your final look depends only on the amount of effort you are willing to put into the project. No other bench on the market is worth the effort, or for that matter, because of the quality of the materials, can be much improved.

Shipping Information:
John Frei Custom Workbenches are shipped via truck freight. Freight charges are separate, and are paid directly to the freight carrier. Call us at 800-772-3456 x 1 to get a freight quote, or order your bench online and we will contact you to quote you on your unique delivery situation. There is a $75.00 crating charge for double bank workbenches to prepare your custom workbench for shipping.  You can avoid paying the crating charge and freight charges by arranging to pick up your uncrated bench in our Oakland, California warehouse. If you live within 25 miles of our Oakland warehouse, we can quote you on a local delivery with our own truck, saving you the crating charge.

Notes on Freight Charges:

Freight charges are paid directly to the freight carrier, on delivery. Common variables for delivery that freight companies charge extra for include but are not limited to-residential delivery, lift gate required, call before delivery, inside delivery and rural delivery.  The least expensive freight charges will be to a commercial address (commercial is defined by the freight carrier and means a business address in a non residential area with Monday thru Friday business hours) with the ability (dock high door, fork lift, several able body persons) to remove the item from the truck without the assistance of the driver.

To help you with estimating freight charges, below is a list of several recent freight charges customers have paid to have their benches shipped. The chart includes the part number of the bench, the zip code of the delivery address, whether or not a liftgate and residential delivery was needed, the estimated charges from the original freight quotation, and the actual charges paid by the customer for delivery.  Please note that the actual charges paid were often more than the quotation.  That is due to the freight company charging for the actual freight delivery situation they encountered.

As you can see, freight charges vary due to the size and weight of the bench and the distance from our warehouse in Oakland, Ca.
