Product Details

Our best selling economy rolling mill.  Outstanding quality and durability for a very low price. Simple, basic rolling mill.  We've sold over 300 units since 2015 with a 97% satisfaction rate.

Choose from a huge range of optional wire and pattern rolls.

  • Simple T Bar Roller Adjustment instead of Flywheel with Speed Handle
  • Reduction Gear Shaft location hidden inside case

The Silver Economy Mill uses the same size rollers as most other economy rolling mills, as most India made rolling mills are made in the same district. This mill features a covered reduction gear assembly and covered side gears that many other economy mills on the market do not have.

Because it uses the same rolls as most other economy rolling mills, (76mm x 43mm), you can choose from a wide selection of optional wire and pattern rolls to customize the Silver Economy Mill. We have matched upper and lower wire rolls for making wire reductions, and various upper wire and pattern rolls for making finished wire and strip.

The mill is 8-1/2" W x 8-1/2" D x 12" H not including the handle. It is very well packed so you can be assured it will arrive in good condition. Set-up is minimal, as you simply wipe off the protective coating of grease and bolt on the handle. We have also included our own detailed instructions for changing rollers and a parts list (Links under Documentation).

Because it is an economy mill, this is a light duty mill, and just like any other rolling mill, should only be used with soft non-ferrous metals like gold, silver and copper. You can do many of the same things with this mill as you could do with a more expensive mill, as long as you refrain from making big passes and anneal your metal often. The maximum thickness of sheet that you can roll in the mill is 2.0mm. The gear reduction is 4 to 1, meaning it takes four complete rotations of the handle to rotate the rolls around one time. This made in India rolling mill is perfect for the hobbyist or student who needs a rolling mill but doesn’t want to spend a lot of money. The roll size is 76mm (3”) wide, by 43mm diameter. These flat rolls are manufactured from selected high carbon steel.

Just what I needed

This is super easy to use even without a lot of muscle! Does a great job with the fine/petite Bonny Doon rolling plates on 22 and 24 ga soft silver.

Terrific little machine

I needed a rolling mill for a wood working project -- to roll out some brass to a uniform thickness. It works flawlessly. The instructions that accompany it are very clear with plenty of photographs that make it easy to get up and running. There's a lot of grease to deal with when it is unpacked but everything arrived in pristine condition. Lastly, the packaging is bullet-proof -- the middle box (yes there are three) is covered in woven polyethylene tape.

Great Rolling Mill

Great rolling mill! I replaced an old rolling mill that I've had for over 10 years and this one is better than my previous in so many ways. Great purchase!

Love it!

I absolutely love this rolling mill. I'm a beginner at making jewelry, although I've been making rings from coins for a couple of years now. I use it to flatten and erase details from coins to make pendants, or other jewelry. I also use it to flatten thick gauge wire. Since I'm still learning I don't need any other rolls at this time, but this machine does offer the option of using many other types of rolls that can also be purchased at Otto Frei. I look forward to developing my skills so that I can move on to the fancy stuff. Excellent customer service also. It was worth the 40 mile drive from my home!
