The Backstory: Designed by a Working Jewelry Instructor
Brian, the mind behind Knew Concepts, still teaches jewelry classes on weekends at a local college. The studio there only has standard-height work tables, which are far too low for serious jewelry work. A previous instructor had built homemade bench pin towers to bring the work up to a comfortable height, but those towers couldn’t mount dovetail fixtures or modern dovetail tools.
To solve that problem, Brian designed a new set of bench pin towers specifically to accept dovetail mounts and dovetail tools. These adjustable bench pin risers are the refined version of that solution – and now we’re making them available so other jewelers can benefit too.
Aluminum Bench Pin Riser
- Constructed with thick tempered aluminum legs that are nearly as strong as the steel version.
- Each riser weighs about 6 pounds, making this version much more portable and easier to transport to classes, shows, or shared studios.
- Still stronger than the table it’s attached to – the riser is never the weak point.
Both versions are visually identical. The only difference is the material used for the legs. All other components remain solid steel for durability and long service life.
Clamping Options & C-Clamps
The bench pin risers can be screwed down permanently or held in place with C-clamps for a removable setup. Because clamping needs vary depending on table thickness and edge style, C-clamps are not included.
