The Guardian II Positive Locking Earring Back is a large clutch with a 7.1 mm outside diameter and comfort triggers. Release takes simultaneous pressure on both tabs, so the earring stays firmly in place until the wearer chooses otherwise. Sold by the piece, so a pair takes 2 pieces.

The Guardian II differs from the original Guardian in its slightly larger triggers, which are bent over to present a smooth surface when unlocking from the post; the original Guardian used straight, ridged tabs. Also known as Guardian II Ear Nuts and Guardian II Safety Earring Backs, this positive locking design descends from the French ZOP system introduced in the late 20th century, and the Guardian II is now the dominant locking earring back system on the market.
