An escapement buff file smooths, blends, and burnishes hard-to-reach surfaces at the bench, working with a bonded abrasive rather than steel teeth. Glardon-Vallorbe escapement buff files bring the precision of classic escapement file profiles to a diamond composite finishing tool: rather than cutting with steel teeth, these files use a ceramic-bonded diamond composite coating, factory rating G10, to smooth, blend, and burnish with consistent results. Each file is formed in a traditional escapement profile—half round, crossing, barrette, three-square, pillar, round, or square—giving jewelers and watchmakers the exact cross-section needed for precise access on flanks, bevels, and intricate geometry. Length of cut is 55 mm, and each file is supplied with a tang only, with no handle.
At standard working pressure, the G10 coating delivers a finish comparable to approximately 500–800 grit (30–20 µm). With very light pressure, the same tool can approach 900–1200 grit (20–15 µm), making it suitable for both blending transitions and final pre-polish refinement. The stiff body maintains crisp, defined edges throughout use. These files are effective on titanium, steel, and high-karat white gold alloys and may also be used on enamel. Sold individually; select the profile that matches your application.
