Spring Loaded Planishing Hammer-Standard Size-2-3/8" (62mm) Top Platen

A spring-loaded planishing hammer works from the bench rather than by hand: set the sheet on the flat lower platen, press down on the spring-loaded upper platen, and the tool applies even, controlled force to straighten and flatten. This standard size hammer from OMO is made in Italy, and it handles both jobs a bench planisher is bought for, bringing domed or warped sheet back down and taking a piece to a flat finish with minimal effort.

The platens are hardened to Rockwell 60, which suits the tool to non-ferrous soft metal alloys including copper, brass, silver and gold. The upper round platen measures 2-3/8" (62 mm) in diameter, the removable lower platen measures 3" (76 mm), and the tool stands 15-1/2" (390 mm) tall on a base footprint of 7-1/4" (185 mm) × 5-1/16" (130 mm).

Metals harder than the platens may cause platen damage. Use care when planishing alloys harder than Rockwell 60, which includes anything harder than copper, brass, silver or gold. A large size version of this planishing hammer is also available separately.
