Description

Starting a hole in hard metal is where an ordinary drill gives up, and these drills are cut for exactly that work. The Busch 4203S carbide twist drills use a 2-groove design engineered for drilling hard metals including steel, platinum, titanium, and hard alloys of gold and silver. Mounted on 3/32" shanks and offered in ten sizes from 0.70mm to 1.60mm, they deliver service life beyond high-speed steel and standard tungsten carbide bits. The twin-groove construction promotes efficient chip evacuation, reduces heat buildup, and minimizes breakage during demanding drilling. These drills can also be used on mild steel. Not for use with glass, ceramics, or gemstones. Sold by the piece.

Features

  • 2-groove design expels chips more effectively for improved performance and longer tool life
  • Carbide construction outlasts high-speed steel and standard tungsten carbide drills in hard jewelry metals
  • Suitable for steel, platinum, titanium, and hard gold and silver alloys
  • Compatible with mild steel
  • Use of a coolant extends drill lifespan
  • For freehand use: recommended speed 5,000–9,000 RPM, with a starting guide hole advised
  • For drill press use: recommended speed 8,000–14,000 RPM
  • Perform best in a drill press, since excess leverage or canting can cause breakage
  • Not for use with glass, ceramics, or gemstones
  • Sold by the piece
