Description
Melting and pouring precious metal at the bench requires a dish that survives the heat and a handle long enough to keep your hand out of it. This melting dish pairs a fused silica dish with a heat-resistant wooden handle so jewelers and metalsmiths can melt and pour with control. The dish uses clay bond construction, measures 3" in diameter and is rated for melting temperatures up to 2800°F (1537°C), with a capacity of 7-1/2 troy ounces of gold. The wooden handle runs approximately 18-3/4" end to end, giving safe clearance from the heat source during a pour, and the dish is secured to it with a wing nut and screw so a worn or damaged dish can be swapped out quickly.
