Description

Solder, anneal, and melt small amounts of precious metal at the bench on one fuel cylinder, with no oxygen bottle to buy or maintain. The Smith Silversmith acetylene atmospheric air torch is a classroom favorite: safe, economical, and easy to light and adjust for a perfect flame every time. Acetylene burns hotter and denser than propane, so the flame is smaller and more intense for faster small-scale soldering.

Swapping tips takes the torch from delicate bench work up to melting 3–4 oz of precious metal without changing the gauge setting, because the regulator runs at 13–14 PSI for all tips. The kit ships with the torch body, a 12 foot hose with standard B fittings, a size 00 very fine tip, and an acetylene B-tank regulator. No oxygen bottle is required.

Features

  • All-around workhorse: covers micro soldering with tip 00 through small melts with tip 4.
  • No oxygen bottle: economical next to an oxygen and fuel system, with one cylinder to manage.
  • Consistency: simple to light and tune, with a repeatable flame.
  • One pressure setting: run the regulator at 13–14 PSI for every tip.
  • Lifetime handle guarantee from Smith, tips excluded.

Compatibility

Runs on acetylene with atmospheric air and needs no oxygen cylinder. Connects to a standard acetylene B tank, which is not included, through USA standard B (9/16"-18) hose fittings.

The Smith Silversmith air/acetylene torch is a

The Smith Silversmith air/acetylene torch is a sweetheart of a torch. It is exactly what I was hoping to get. The gauge and torch is of a very high quality, and it is made by Miller, who has always been a top of the line company.
I highly recommend this torch.
Otto Frei is a wonderful company too, and the torch was delivered within 4 days of ordering.
Thank you Otto!

Is the Smith Air Acetylene Torch Kit comparable to the Turbo Torch B-Tank kit for soft copper water plumbing fittings. Is the flame more controllable compared to the Turbo Air Acetylene B-Tank Torch kit.

OttoFrei.com

Yes it is comparable. The Smith is made of higher quality materials and offer a wider range of tips and flame sizes. Controllability is difficult to comment on as it is not something that can be measured.
