Disc Cutter Set of 10-1/8" to 1-1/4"

A disc cutter punches clean round blanks out of sheet metal at the bench, so every disc comes off the same size with a finished edge.

This Value Line set cuts perfect round metal discs in ten standard sizes. Built for professional jewelers and metalsmiths, it punches clean discs from soft precious metals, including gold, silver and copper, up to 20 gauge thick. Brass, copper and nickel silver can also be cut with appropriate care. The cutter works with a mallet or in a hydraulic press, and the pad is not required when using a hydraulic press. The set measures 5-1/2" round by 3" high and is made in India from hardened tool steel with sharp edges and close tolerances.

A knob-style separating device is built into this set, so you can quickly separate the upper section from the lower section to free punches that become stuck in the cut metal. It is a practical feature that speeds up production and reduces frustration at the bench.

Notes

• Always use a cutting lubricant, such as Stay Sharp, on the cutting edges before use.
• Use a suitable mallet. A brass mallet is recommended. Never use a nail-driving hammer.
• Always support the opposite side of the cutter with a sheet of the same diameter metal being cut. This keeps upper and lower sections in alignment and helps prevent material from sticking.
• Do not exceed the 20 gauge maximum thickness recommendation.
• Only cut soft, non-ferrous metals. Do not attempt to cut ferrous metals.
• Ensure cutting edges are facing down before striking.
• To prevent rust, lubricate the cutter between uses and store in a dry location.
• The pad is not required when using a hydraulic press.
