Bench Shear 8"

A bench shear cuts sheet and rod stock down to size at the bench, and this 8" model is a sturdy workhorse for jewelers and metalsmiths who need reliable performance on plate and rod. Cutting blades are manufactured from high-temper carbon steel, allowing the shear to cut sheet metal up to 10 gauge (0.100" / 2.6mm) thick. The 8" blade length accommodates a maximum cut length of approximately 5-3/4". A hole in the side of the shear accepts rods up to 3/8" in diameter. An adjustable support rod helps hold sheet material in position during cuts, and the extra-long 24" handle provides the leverage needed to cut through thicker metals with less effort. It is made in India.

This style of long-handle bench shear excels at quickly cutting smaller pieces of thicker material. While not as dimensionally precise as guillotine-style bench shears, it is a practical and efficient choice for production and shop use. Longer straight cuts on sheet stock require careful technique to achieve clean results.

The shear must be securely mounted to a workbench for proper and safe operation. Mounting requires 4 nuts and bolts, which are not included.
