A dedicated wire mill sits at the forming bench to reduce wire stock in controlled steps before it goes to the draw plate. The Durston DRM W130E Standard Wire Rolling Mill with Extension Rolls is purpose-built for jewelers and metalsmiths who need that one job done well. Wire rolling mills work without a reduction gear by design, which removes the slowdown that occurs during long wire passes and keeps the workflow moving.

The standard wire grooves produce the traditional diamond-shaped profile used to reduce wire stock before drawing through a draw plate to reach finished wire. Eleven square wire grooves running from 10 mm – 1 mm give a wide range of reduction steps in a single pass-through sequence. The integrated side extension rolls add four half-round "D" shape grooves at 4, 3, 2 and 1.5 mm, which expands capability without a separate attachment purchase.

A 5-to-1 gearbox delivers controlled, consistent torque through hardened rollers measuring 130 mm long by 60 mm in diameter, supporting a maximum wire capacity of 8 mm and a sheet thickness capacity of 6 mm. At 82 lbs., this is a substantial bench mill built for repeated professional use.

Notes

This mill is built exclusively for wire rolling and does not include flat sheet rollers. The standard groove profile reduces wire to a diamond cross-section suitable for draw plate finishing. Sheet and combination rolling require a different Durston mill configuration.

The mill measures 13-1/4" L x 8-3/4" W x 14-13/16" H (335 mm x 220 mm x 365 mm) and weighs 82 lbs. (36.8 kg), so plan bench space and support before installing it.
