Handy Flame II Propane Torch

The Handy Flame II is a propane torch for soldering and annealing at the jeweler's bench, built for metalsmiths who need a reliable, economical tool capable of handling demanding work. This atmospheric torch connects to standard propane or MAPP gas disposable fuel tanks, the kind readily available at hardware and camping stores, making it a convenient choice for the bench. The ergonomic grip and one-touch ignition system allow for quick, comfortable use, while the brass regulator gives you direct control over flame size. It is made in China.

This torch uses an atmospheric design that mixes air with fuel inside a chamber on the handle. The integrated 5-foot (1.5 m) flexible hose and regulator assembly provides reach and flexibility at the bench. Note that the hose assembly is integrated with the handle and regulator and cannot be replaced. If the hose shows any signs of cracking, nicks, wear, or damage, discontinue use immediately and replace the torch.

For best performance, use this torch with the brass regulator turned up. Operating at a low flame setting can result in uneven heating and potential overheating of your workpiece.

Notes

Connecting the Torch

• For use with disposable fuel tanks only.
• Hand-tighten the torch onto the fuel cylinder until the connection is secure.
• Check the connection for leaks before use. If leakage is detected, tighten further before proceeding.

Igniting the Torch

• Turn the brass regulator knurled knob counter-clockwise while pressing the ignition trigger until the torch lights.
• Adjust flame size by turning the knob clockwise (decrease) or counter-clockwise (increase).

Turning Off the Torch

• Turn the brass regulator knurled knob clockwise until the flame is fully extinguished.
• After use, disconnect the regulator from the gas source. Do not store the torch connected to a gas source.
• Allow the torch to cool completely before storing.

Service

• The hose assembly is not replaceable. Replace the torch if the hose is cracked, nicked, worn, or damaged.
