Description
The Magnesia Soldering Block is a non-asbestos, fibrous, fireproof soldering surface made from magnesium oxide. Like charcoal blocks, magnesia blocks are heat reflective — but offer a key advantage: they are resistant to fracturing. Charcoal blocks require binding wire and annealing with a reducing flame to prevent cracking, while the magnesia block eliminates that extra prep work. Its soft surface allows pins or objects to be pressed directly into it to hold work in place during soldering.
Magnesia blocks can withstand temperatures up to 2000°F (1093°C), making them suitable for melting and soldering non-ferrous metals, including copper, silver, and gold.
Important Safety Notice: Always use this product in a well-ventilated area and wear a protective mask when soldering. Exposure to soldering fumes and magnesium oxide fumes is considered toxic.
