Cone burs cut and shape precious metal for jewelry fabrication and stone setting, and this set covers the cone sizes most commonly needed at the bench. The Otto Frei Swiss Fig. 5 set brings together 19 Swiss-made Tungsten Vanadium cone burs from 0.90mm to 5.00mm, each on a 3/32" diameter shaft.
Tungsten Vanadium burs are the most popular burs used in the jewelry industry, and for good reason: they are machine-made to ultra-high precision tolerances, so each bur is uniformly consistent. They cut precious metal smoothly and cleanly with no chatter or drag. High Speed Steel (HSS) burs are individually hand-cut and vary slightly from piece to piece, while Tungsten Vanadium burs deliver repeatable, predictable performance across the full set. The most modern manufacturing equipment combined with Swiss steel hardening expertise makes this line of burs a consistent best seller.
The burs are stored in a plastic bur box drilled for 3/32" shank burs, which keeps every size in order on the bench.
High Speed Steel burs tend to offer greater longevity than Tungsten Vanadium burs. Tungsten Vanadium burs remain an excellent value choice for professional bench work, where consistent geometry from bur to bur matters as much as tool life.
Everything in the box.
