Grade: Very Fine

Description

Technique Bufflex satin finish wheels put a controlled satin finish on metal at the polishing lathe, and they are used extensively on watch cases. Made in France from compressed, non-woven aluminum oxide, they are suited to deburring and deoxidizing as well as finishing. No polishing compounds are needed because these wheels are used dry.

Each wheel uses a flap circular radial blade construction, where every layer is arranged in a radial blade formation. That design contributes to exceptional durability and a long service life when the wheel is used properly. The Very Fine (TF) grade has always been popular for matching brushed watch case finishes and is the most popular of the three grades.

Note: As of Spring 2016, Bufflex satin finish wheels are branded as Technique satin finish wheels. They are still produced in France for the watch and jewelry industry, with no change to the material or production. Only the name has changed.

  • Mounts on a tapered spindle on a polishing lathe.
  • The recommended 1400–2800 RPM range sits below the standard 3450 RPM of most single-speed polishing motors, so a variable-speed or 2-speed polishing lathe motor gives the best results.

Notes

  • Very Fine and Fine grades are the most commonly used grades for satin finishing applications.
  • Run the wheels dry. Adding polishing compound is not required and is not how the abrasive is meant to work.
