Value Line Jig Vise Miter Cutter

A jig vise miter cutter holds tubing, wire, or sheet steady so a saw or file leaves a dead flat end at a set angle. The Value Line Jig Vise Miter Cutter is a bench tool for making flat cuts at 90° or 45° on tubing, wire, and sheet stock, manufactured in Pakistan at a factory with a strong reputation for quality hand tools.

It is made from super hard tool steel rated at 58 HRC and accepts stock up to 1/2" thick. The lower opening is used for 90-degree cuts, and the upper opening holds stock for 45-degree cuts. Both the flat 90° slot and the 45° slot carry a small integrated stop, with 35 mm of usable distance from that stop to the edge of the tool, so flat sheet stock up to 35 mm in length can be positioned against it. Mount the tool in a bench vise or hold it in hand, then saw or file against it for a flat result every time.

The surface of this tool is more susceptible to showing wear marks from files than European versions of the same tool, but it remains a serviceable option for jewelers and metalsmiths.

Strong force with nearly any file may also scratch the vise and potentially damage the file. Marks on the vise surface are not a product defect; they reflect contact with a harder material.
