Value Line Multi Purpose Forming Kit

A forming set gives you punches and blocks in matched sizes, so you can raise domes, curves, and grooves in sheet without improvising a tool for each shape. The Value Line Multi Purpose Forming Kit is a collection of 43 steel metalsmithing tools mounted on a wood stand: 42 individual steel tools spanning dapping punches, swage punches, dapping dies, and more.

All punches are matched to their corresponding blocks, and the overall quality, including the polish on the tool steel pieces, is the best we have seen in dapping tools. These tools are made in India and deliver consistent performance across the full range of forming tasks.

• The mini bench anvil is chrome plated rather than carbon tool steel. Pitting was observed on inspected units, which is a known characteristic of this component.
• All other tools are polished carbon tool steel. Carbon tool steel is harder than stainless steel, which makes it suitable for forming other metals, but it will rust if left unprotected. Wipe tools with an oily rag after use or apply a protective coating such as Starrett M1 All Purpose Lubricant to guard against corrosion.
