ヘマタイトは酸化鉄で構成され、他の宝石とは一線を画す、独特の光沢のある金属光沢を示します。メンズジュエリーで昔から愛用されてきたヘマタイトは、一般的に使用される天然宝石の中で最も密度が高く、手に取るとすぐにわかる、しっかりとしたずっしりした感触があります。これらの楕円形カボションは本物のヘマタイトです。圧縮した鉄で構成され、同じ天然の特性を持たない模造ヘマタイト（hemetiteと呼ばれることもあります）にはご注意ください。

各カボションは、豊かな金属光沢を持つ黒色不透明で、処理は施されていません。お手入れの際は、温かい石けん水で洗浄してください。超音波洗浄機とスチームクリーナーで安全に使用できます。
