Close a link at the bench without reaching for the torch: Click & Lock jump rings carry the look and the solderability of a standard jump ring, plus a hidden mechanism that locks the two ends together securely. These rings are made from 1/20 14K yellow gold filled wire and arrive as a heavyweight assortment of 120 pieces, 12 each of ten sizes running from 23 gauge at 2.4 mm outside diameter up to 14 gauge at 9.0 mm outside diameter.

To close one, use two pairs of nylon jaw pliers, one gripping each end, so the metal is not marred. Separate the ends, twist and move them past each other, then bring them together with gentle pressure until you hear an audible click confirming the ends are locked. The joined ring can still be separated with deliberate effort, which makes it effectively permanent for most jewelry applications while using no solder at all. When you would rather solder, these rings accept solder and behave exactly like conventional jump rings.
