Gold Plain Lever Backs with Open Ring

Lever backs give a drop earring a hinged, self-closing catch that sits behind the lobe, the usual choice when a friction back is too easy to lose. These plain lever backs with an open ring are made in 14K gold, offered in 14K yellow gold and in 14K white gold with rhodium plating, and are made in the USA. They are sold by the piece, so order two pieces for a matching pair.

The hinges are built with set rivets. If soldering is required, the rivet must be removed and the lever back fully disassembled before heat is applied, then reassembled and the rivet reset afterward. Soldering is not recommended for the 14K white gold rhodium-plated version.

Lubricate the hinge with a small amount of mineral oil or a similar lubricant to keep it operating smoothly. This step is especially important after cleaning in an ultrasonic cleaner or with a steam cleaner.
