Description
A complete flex shaft system for shaping, refining, and polishing at the jeweler's bench, with the motor hanging out of the way and a light, responsive handpiece in your hand. Foredom builds the K.2820 around the reversible Series SR (M.SR) motor, a 1/6 HP ball bearing motor that runs up to 18,000 RPM on 115V through the included C.SCT-1 cast metal foot control. The H.20 lever-style quick-change handpiece takes 3/32" (2.38 mm) shank burs and tools, and the AK11 43-piece accessory kit covers abrasive shaping, surface refinement, and polishing.
This kit replaces the K.2820HA kit with hanger: same kit, with the Foredom MAMH-1 double motor hanger offered as an add-on. Check the hanger box above the Add to Cart button to include it.
Features
- All-in-one flex shaft system configured for jewelry bench work and general metalsmithing
- Reversible Series SR motor helps control debris direction, support left- or right-handed work, and improve grinding and polishing techniques
- C.SCT cast metal foot control offers smooth, precise speed regulation with a wide, non-skid base
- H.20 lever-style quick-change handpiece allows rapid bur changes for 3/32" shank tools without a chuck key
- AK11 43-piece accessory kit covers abrasive shaping, surface refinement, and polishing in one coordinated assortment
- Standard flexible shaft and sheath connect to Foredom and many other quick-disconnect handpieces
- Designed as a matched system so you can go from rough work to final finish using the same setup
Compatibility
- M.SR Series motor includes standard flexible shaft and sheath for connecting to Foredom and many other brands of quick-disconnect handpieces
- C.SCT-1 speed control is designed for use with most Foredom flex shaft motors
- H.20 quick-change handpiece is intended for use with 3/32" (2.38 mm) diameter shank burs and tools only
Notes
- Do not plug the Series SR motor directly into a wall outlet; always operate it through a compatible speed control.
- Use the reverse feature with care when working on screw-top mandrels; reverse rotation can loosen unmounted polishing wheels on threaded mandrels. Use pre-mounted wheels when running in reverse.
- Alternating forward and reverse directions can extend the life of some abrasives and help with symmetrical grinding, carving, and polishing.
- Position the motor so the shaft hangs freely without sharp bends and keep the work area clear of the moving flex shaft.
- The AK11 accessory kit includes the A-10081 rotating bur and tool holder, a 7" (178 mm) diameter by 4" (102 mm) high stand with a 2-3/4" (70 mm) diameter by 3" (76 mm) deep center cup. Foredom may substitute similar products when necessary.
