Description

A half-round slim precision file works the inside of a ring and other tight interior curves, where a standard half-round file is simply too wide to reach. The Glardon-Vallorbe LP1566 is tapered in both width and thickness to a point and is cut on both sides, so a single file handles the flat surface and the curved surface in the same pass. Every measurement listed reflects the thickest point of the file.

Glardon-Vallorbe is the sole manufacturer of files in Switzerland, so every file carrying the Swiss Made designation is a Glardon-Vallorbe file.

File length is measured from where the teeth begin to the end of the file and does not include the tang. A 6" precision file, for example, measures roughly 8½" from tip to the end of the tang. Cut grades run from 000 (extra extra coarse) to 6 (finest), and the higher the number, the finer the cut. This shape is offered in 6", 8" and 10" lengths in cut grades 000 through 5.

Cannot Beat Glardon Vallorbe Files

You cannot find another file brand that matches the superb quality and craftsmanship of these guys. Maybe you could 50 years ago, but not today. Sadly, most American and Swiss file companies that once were a pinnacle of steel workmanship the world over, no longer exist or have offshored their manufacturing process to locations lacking the means, tooling or knowledge needed to craft such files. There’s only a tiny handful of companies that are reliably still cutting their files using the older die-cut process (which results in a superior cut quality) - Glardon Vallorbe being seemingly the lone survivor carrying that torch. They’re pricey, but my guess is that companies of this standard are not long for this world. Buy once, cry once - so long as you take care of your files and only cut metals lower in hardness than the file itself (~65rh)
