Glardon-Vallorbe Valtitan Half-Round Slim Precision File - LPV1566

This half-round ring file reaches inside a ring to shape and smooth curved surfaces that a broader file cannot enter. The LPV1566 Half-Round Ring Slim Precision File is tapered in both width and thickness, coming to a point, and is narrower than a standard half-round. Cut on both sides, it handles detail filing in tight curved areas. It is supplied as a tang only, with no handle. Measurements given are at the thickest point of the file.

These are Valtitan files, specially treated to reach 72 HRc on the Rockwell scale, making them the hardest steel files available. The Valtitan process increases hardness, improves corrosion resistance, extends file life, and resists metal accumulation in the teeth; a simple knock is typically enough to clear chips. Valtitan files are especially recommended for platinum and other hard metals such as stainless steel, but perform excellently on all metals. Beginning in 2016, Valtitan files are identified by an imprinted VALTITAN marking on the tang rather than the earlier yellow-painted tang. Originally distributed by Grobet USA under the Grobet Swiss name, these files are now sold under the Glardon-Vallorbe brand.

• File length is measured from the start of the teeth to the end of the file. A 6-inch file measures approximately 8-1/2 inches total from tip to end of tang.
• Valtitan files produced from 2016 onward are identified by an imprinted tang marking, replacing the former yellow-painted tang.
