Everything you need on the bench to start hard soldering, gathered into one kit with a simple torch and wire silver solder. The only thing it does not include is the gas, which you buy locally.
With this kit you will be ready to begin hard soldering, as it is called in the jewelry industry. Hard soldering is referred to as brazing in other industries, and is different from low temperature soldering (called soft soldering) that is done with soldering irons and low temperature solders like tin or lead solders. Hard soldering is done with a torch at temperatures starting at approximately 1500 F, and with suitable solder materials like silver solders or gold solders.
This starter kit contains almost the exact same items as the professional soldering kit, in smaller quantities. It is built around the simple Blazer micro torch, a basic torch that runs on butane. With the Blazer torch you can start to learn how to hard solder small jobs like jump rings and simple jewelry repairs, and once you have mastered beginning soldering you will want to move up to a bigger torch.
Butane is not included. You can find containers of butane at most hardware and drug stores; it is the same fuel that refillable lighters use.
