Description
This zinc-free eutectic silver solder — commonly known as IT solder — is specifically formulated for enameling applications. Each piece weighs approximately 5 pennyweights (5 DWT, or 1/4 troy ounce) and contains 80% silver and 20% copper, with no zinc in the alloy.
Because zinc can cause bubbling and surface defects when solder comes into contact with enamel during firing, eutectic silver solders are the professional standard for enameled metalwork. The eutectic composition — silver and copper only — eliminates that risk, making this solder the reliable choice wherever enamel and solder may interact. The approximate flow point is 1560°F (848°C).
