18K Gold Plumb Solder Kit

These are true plumb gold solders, meaning they match the karat of the metal they are intended for use with, which makes them the correct choice for constructing new jewelry pieces. Each piece weighs approximately one half pennyweight (1/2 DWT), for a combined total of approximately 1-1/2 DWT.

Plumb gold solders differ from repair solders in an important way: repair solders contain a lower gold content than the work they are applied to and are designed to flow before plumb solders. Use plumb gold solders for new fabrication work, and reserve repair solders for repair applications.

Easy, medium, and hard designations describe the relative flow temperatures of these solders to one another. Easy flow will flow first, followed by medium, then hard, allowing the jeweler to plan a sequence of solder joins on a single piece without reflowing earlier joints.
