The Pepetools Jump Ring Maker 2 is a made-in-the-USA production tool engineered to make winding and cutting jump rings fast, consistent, and repeatable. This improved model features a coil holder with a thicker top plate and easier-to-use thumbscrews. The winding attachment can be mounted on the included stand or secured directly to your bench for flexible workflow integration.

The system uses a No. 30 type Jacobs chuck handpiece and flex shaft motor to drive the circular sawblade through a lubricated wire coil, producing uniform jump rings in a wide range of metric diameters. A flex shaft motor and No. 30 type Jacobs chuck handpiece are required and sold separately. The manufacturer recommends a genuine Foredom H.30 handpiece for use with this machine.

What's Included

  • 20 metric jump ring mandrels (2.5–12.0 mm diameters; note: 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 mm mandrels do not have holes per current Pepetools production)
  • Handpiece holder for No. 30 handpiece
  • Coil wire holder with cutting slot and coil stopping rod
  • One 31.75 mm (1-1/4") circular sawblade — cuts up to 18 gauge / 1.0 mm wire in soft metals
  • Mounting arbor for the sawblade
  • Metal storage platform
  • Compact plastic stand (9" L x 4-1/2" W)

Notes

  • A flex shaft motor and No. 30 type Jacobs chuck handpiece are required and sold separately. The manufacturer recommends the Foredom H.30 handpiece.
  • Maximum 18 gauge / 1.0 mm wire cutting capacity applies to soft metals only (copper, gold, sterling silver). Harder metals—including steel, nickel silver, bronze, and argentium silver—have smaller diameter limits and will increase blade wear.
  • Always wear safety glasses and apply lubricant generously when cutting coils.
  • An optional larger 38 mm (1-1/2") sawblade that cuts up to 16 gauge (1.2 mm) wire is available separately as Part No. 143.103.

This jump ring making tool offers quick, consistent ring production and versatile uses for jewelry making. Customers said it's "extremely useful" for making jump rings without hunting for fallen pieces. However, some reported quality concerns including poorly marked mandrels, cheap plastic tray, and missing mounting hardware.

Not well made

Wish I hadn't bought this item. I was hoping for a complete kit and to be usable without having to get your own mounting screws which need to be counter sunk. I wanted to be able to use it without having to mount it to a piece of wood or to a table top. Mandrels are sad. Hard to read what the sizes are for each one. The writing is barely visible. One is missing altogether. Holding tray is cheaply made plastic. For me it was not worth the price I had to pay for it. Says it's made in the USA but I don't believe it. Probably made in China. Expected better quality.

Sorry you are not satisfied with the quality. Please return it for a complete refund. The Pepetools jump ring maker is indeed made in the USA. There are India and Chinese made copies out there, but this isn't one of them. This is the only jump ring maker currently made in the USA. Perhaps you would like to try one of the Durston Jump Ring Makers, we have 2 different versions in stock. The Durston jump ring makers are made in the UK.

Worth it and then some!

This is an extremely useful and well made group of tools. Beyond the obvious use of making jump rings I have used the mandrels in hand forming small ring shanks, truing up curved areas on random pieces, and as a support holder for small round'ish pieces when sanding. The winder is also great at winding sterling silver square wire, making braids, and as a third hand that has helped me do a number of tasks.

Original

I have the original and I love it. I hated cutting jump rings with a jewelers saw and was thrilled when I discovered Pepe Jump Ring Maker. When I could finally buy one I was amazed at how quickly I could make jump rings and they were all consistent. Not only that, but I didn't have to look for fallen jump rings like you do when cutting them with a jewelers saw. I can't say enough about how wonderful this tool is. I highly recommend it.
