A magnetic tumbler brightens and work-hardens a finished piece without abrading it, and this Ikohe machine is the right size for jewelers who finish one or two pieces at a time. The 80 mm diameter bowl holds approximately 2 ladies' rings and moves up to 75 grams of stainless steel pins, which suits hand-crafted, one-at-a-time production in a small footprint.

The machine is built with many of the same heavy-duty features found in the larger magnetic tumblers and is made for the rigors of daily use. It runs on 110V/60Hz power and ships complete with 100 grams of 0.5 mm × 5.0 mm stainless steel magnetic pins and a small sample of Otto MF 610 magnetic tumbler solution.

Magnetic tumbling cuts hours of hand labor from the finishing process. The tumbler polishes hard-to-reach areas, including the undersides of rings, undercuts, channels and fine filigree, to a bright finish in as little as 30 minutes for gold and 45 minutes for platinum.

Thousands of smooth, tiny stainless steel pins act like miniature burnishers, hammering the surface of the piece to create a bright, shiny, work-hardened finish. Because the process is non-abrasive, there is no metal loss. The pins reach into the smallest crevices and channels far more quickly than conventional rotary or vibratory tumblers. Broad, smooth surfaces may then take a final quick polish by hand or in polishing media.

Notes

What you get:

  • Ikohe Extra Small Magnetic Tumbler (80 mm, 110V)
  • 100 grams of 0.5 mm × 5.0 mm stainless steel magnetic pins
  • Small sample of Otto MF 610 magnetic tumbler solution

For best tumbling results, use 75 grams of pins at a time, even though 100 grams are included.

Not a final polish: the process may leave an orange-peel effect on smooth, broad surfaces. Does not remove scratches: because no metal is abraded, pre-existing scratches and surface imperfections remain.

This unit is intended for low-volume, artisan jewelry work. For production-level output, the 150 mm and larger magnetic tumbler models offer the necessary capacity.
