Description
Made in the USA. These heat-treated cast-iron anvils are hardened to approximately HRC 48–52 for excellent durability and rebound. The top and bottom are milled flat to ensure a full, even hammer strike, and the face is surface-ground to a smooth, accurate finish. The hardness sits in the same proven range as many quality forging hammers, keeping the anvil face from denting under normal use — a critical advantage for consistent planishing, forming, and metalsmithing work.
Shared Features
- Hard face for clean results: Hardness in the ~HRC 48–52 range delivers good rebound and resists dings from repeated hammer strikes.
- Milled flat top and bottom: Ensures full contact with the hammer face and a stable, level working surface.
- Surface-ground face: Provides a smooth, accurate finish that transfers cleanly to sheet and wire.
- Rebound efficiency: Good rebound returns energy into the workpiece, reducing the number of strikes needed and producing smoother planishing results with less hand fatigue.
- Three size options: Available in 35 lb, 70 lb, and 125 lb to match your bench space, workload, and material scale.
- Made in the USA: Domestic heat-treated cast-iron construction.

Notes
- Mount firmly to a stump or stand; add a silicone or rubber pad under the base to reduce ring and improve energy transfer.
- Reserve a clean zone on the face for final planishing — stamping and texturing work can mar the surface and transfer to finished pieces.
- Slightly radius the edges to prevent unintended marks and reduce stress risers in sheet and wire; keep one edge crisper for deliberate bends.
- Occasionally stone or lightly polish the face to remove minor transfer marks without altering overall flatness.
- Use rawhide or nylon mallets when working pieces that must not be stretched or marked.
