The Badeco 222 Heavy Spring Strength Hammer Handpiece with USA Duplex Spring (Part #134.751) is the Swiss-made Badeco 222 fitted with an American-made duplex spring attachment for added flexibility in tight or angled working positions.

Compatibility

• Otto Frei recommends pairing this duplex spring model with a Low Speed High Torque Foredom LX motor (item 134.159) to extend duplex spring life. The foot pedal controls speed, not power.
• Do not operate above 5,000 RPM. Duplex springs can be damaged at higher speeds.
• Replacement inner duplex springs are available separately: single, Part #134.279 (Foredom HP76); pack of 12, Part #134.280 (Foredom HP76B).

Notes

Tip preparation

1. Shape the tip as desired before hardening.
2. Step 1, hardening: hold the tip at the threaded part with tweezers without damaging the thread. Heat the front part with a blowlamp to 820°C (light cherry-red). Cool rapidly by placing the tip head-down into an oil bath.
3. Step 2, remove oil: whiten with fine sandpaper. Do not touch the point with bare fingers.
4. Step 3, tempering: pass the piece from back to front over a blowlamp to 130°C, and the color must not change. Cool immediately in an oil bath. If the temperature runs too high the tip loses its edge quickly, so repeat from Step 1.

Duplex spring and warranty

• Do not exceed a 45-degree angle when using the duplex spring. Working past that angle, or bending the spring while detaching the handpiece from the flex shaft, can easily damage it.
• The duplex spring is not made by Badeco and carries no factory warranty. All parts related to the USA duplex spring connection are excluded from warranty as well.
• Consider stocking spare inner duplex springs and learning to replace them, since the inner spring is the component that most commonly fails.
• Handpieces dismantled by the user during the warranty period are repaired at the user's expense. Damage from improper use or from ignoring Badeco instructions is not covered.

• An owner's instruction sheet is included with every Badeco hammer handpiece. Read it carefully before use.
