For best performance, place the disc cutter on a rubber or urethane pad, lubricate the punch edges lightly, and strike with a suitable brass or rawhide mallet rather than a nail-driving hammer. Always support the opposite side of the cutter with a similar sheet of metal to help keep the upper and lower plates aligned and to reduce sticking.

Do not exceed the recommended metal thickness, and store the cutter lightly lubricated in a dry location to help prevent rust and extend tool life.
