Sized between the smaller Fretz Precisionsmith hammers and the larger Fretz Silversmithing hammers, the Jewelers series is the go-to choice for a wide range of metalsmithing tasks. The HMR-2 is purpose-built for raising work, with dual flat faces designed to compress metal against a stake without stretching it.

Raising is the technique of angling sheet metal off a stake to create an air gap, allowing compression rather than stretch. The HMR-2's wide raising faces make it ideal for raising sheet metal into a bowl against a wooden or metal T-stake, forming concave shapes inside cylinders, and planishing subtle concave surfaces.
