Description
The Fretz–Michael Good CP-1 is a cross pein planishing hammer designed specifically for anticlastic raising. Built to Michael Good's specifications at the Fretz hammer and stake factory in Vietnam, the CP-1 features a long, slightly curved head that promotes a smooth, arcing stroke for predictable strikes along flowing curves. A 250 mm (10") handle provides ample leverage for extended forming sessions.
Features
- Long, gently curved head engineered for controlled planishing on anticlastic forms
- Narrow face targets thin concave curves; the heavier, thicker face adds useful heft for broader passes
- Optimized for use on nylon sinusoidal stakes; also compatible with metal stakes and anvils
- Face geometry complements the CP-2 — together they offer four distinct face dimensions for varied anticlastic work

Notes
- For most thin sheet work, pair the CP-1 with a nylon sinusoidal stake; switch to metal stakes when faster metal movement is needed, then planish afterward as required.
- Maintain consistent right-angle blows to the stake for even furrows and curves throughout the raising process.
