A pillar file trues a flat surface at the bench: it is parallel in width and tapered in thickness, which makes perfectly flat filing possible. The Pillar Regular 2 Sides Cut is double cut on both the top and bottom faces, while both edges remain safe (no cut), so you can work right up to a shoulder without marring the adjacent surface. Each file is supplied as a tang only, with no handle, and measurements are given at the thickest point of the file.
