Description
Keum-Boo bonds a layer of high-karat gold onto silver with heat and burnishing pressure, and the technique calls for foil rather than leaf. Gold foil for Keum-Boo is a different product from standard gold leaf because it is thicker, approximately 4 microns (0.004mm), which is what makes it suitable for the traditional Korean method. This is a single 23.5K sheet measuring 80mm x 80mm (approximately 3.15" x 3.15"), sold one sheet per package and made in the UK using a labor-intensive hammering process. Most instructors recommend an agate burnisher to apply gold foil when practicing Keum-Boo.
Features
- 23.5K gold foil suitable for the Keum-Boo technique
- Thicker than gold leaf, at approximately 4 microns (0.004mm)
- 80mm x 80mm sheet, approximately 3.15" x 3.15"
- Produced by a labor-intensive hammering method
- Single sheet format for precise, controlled use
- Made in the UK
Notes
The thickness of gold foil can vary and is practically impossible to measure without specialized scientific equipment. Both gold foil and gold leaf vary in thickness because the hammering process is done by hand. For thinner gold leaf, see part number 143.480.
