Jewelry-scale chasing & repoussé kit. This set pairs a 7-1/2" × 2-3/4" cast iron pitch bowl with the matching rubber pad and 5 lb of Nechamkin Medium Green Pitch — an organic pine rosin–based formula made in the USA. The medium-green pitch softens with gentle heat for forming and firms up for crisp chasing and light planishing.
Features
-
Ready to work: Correct bowl, pad, and quality pitch included — no guesswork on sizing or compatibility.
-
Tunable support: Keep pitch slightly warmer for deeper repoussé; keep it slightly cooler for firmer, crisper chasing.
-
Natural pine rosin–based pitch: Grips securely when cool and softens evenly when warmed — not asphaltum-based.
-
Stable bowl geometry: 7-1/2" diameter × 2-3/4" deep cast iron bowl allows smooth, controlled tilting at the bench.
-
Surface protection: Properly sized rubber pad improves bench grip and protects work surfaces.

Notes
-
Setup tip: Many smiths fill the bowl base with concrete for added stability and pitch conservation. Before the concrete sets, press a few finger depressions into it so the pitch keys in securely.
-
Softening: Break pitch into small chunks and warm gradually — a 250–300 °F oven provides even softening; a hot-air gun also works. Keep heat moving to avoid hot spots.
-
Working sequence: Warm the surface until pliable, seat the metal, and allow to cool until firm before striking. To release, re-warm slightly and lift; wipe residues while still warm.
-
Safety: Never heat pitch to the point of bubbling or smoking. Always wear eye protection and work with adequate ventilation.
- As a natural product, minor variation in color or firmness between batches is normal.
