A soldering board gives the bench a flat, heat-reflective surface to solder on, and this is the hard compound version for benches that put boards through heavy use.
Solderite Soldering Boards in hard compound are made with denser fillers and reinforcing agents than the softer 3/4" thick boards. At 1/2" thick, they outlast their softer counterparts, which makes them a durable choice for high-volume or demanding soldering work. The harder compound is not intended for pressing items into and is more difficult to secure with pins. Solderite boards reflect more heat than ceramic or silquar boards, which helps on larger soldering jobs that benefit from the added heat retention, and they give a cleaner working surface than charcoal blocks or firebrick. Maximum working temperature is 1700°F (927°C).
