Magnetic pins are the media that get into the places a rotary barrel cannot: fine details, tight settings and recessed areas, with minimal lodging. Ikohe makes these from a special chromium alloy stainless steel that resists rust and corrosion and is built to outlast comparable polishing media, and they come from Japan. Sold in 250 gram (17.6 ounce) packs in two diameters, 0.3mm and 0.5mm, both 5.0mm long. These pins are designed for use in magnetic polishers only.
| Part # | Diameter | Length |
|---|---|---|
| 147.660 | 0.5mm | 5.0mm |
| 147.662 | 0.3mm | 5.0mm |
For use in magnetic polishers and magnetic tumblers only.
Break-In Period Required: Before first use, magnetic pins must be broken in to de-iron the pins and temper their blunt edges. Run them through several 5–10 minute cycles using a polishing compound such as Otto Frei OF 610 Magnetic Tumbler Solution or #750 Powdered Shot Cleaner. Do not mix with other pins or use on finished metals until the break-in process is complete. The pins are ready for use when they no longer turn the water solution black. This process leaches out residual iron that can interfere with brightening results.
