Ring and Hoop Press by Wubbers-Scallop 10

The Wubbers Ring and Hoop Press – Scallop 10 Pattern is a precision 2-part steel die system designed for jewelers and metalsmiths who want to quickly form patterned rings and hoops without the expense of a hydraulic press. Using the included outer sleeve and matching inner dies, you can shape wire into textured rings and hoops ranging from 13 mm (1/2") inside diameter up to 36 mm (1-3/8") outside diameter. The Scallop 10 pattern imparts a distinctive decorative texture to all types of wire, whether square or round.

To use, simply join the ends of your wire together, shape it on a mandrel to your desired form, then seat it in the bottom die while it rests inside the outer sleeve. Place the top die over the ring—the alignment pin and groove system on both inner dies and the outer sleeve ensure perfect registration every time. Strike the top die with a weighted rawhide mallet or other suitable hammer, and your patterned ring or hoop is complete.

This tool is ideal for creating textured rings and hoops from pattern wire. You can source pattern wire pre-made or create your own using a draw plate or pattern rolling mill.
