For tube settings, choose heavy-walled tubing 0.5 mm larger than the stone, then use a setting burr exactly the size of the stone to cut the seat. For example, for a 3 mm round faceted stone, choose heavy-walled tubing with a 3.5 mm outside diameter (OD)—or slightly larger, up to 3.8 mm—then cut the seat with a 3 mm setting burr. Seat the stone, then burnish the bezel closed with the appropriately sized setting tool from this set.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBefore use, we recommend polishing the insides of the punches with a small bullet point (Part # 110.342). These punches can also be modified for additional uses. One method, recommended by Goldsmith Peter Rowe, is to cut a slot across the top of the punch with a separating disk, then use an abrasive wheel to slightly lower one side of the slot, creating a cutting edge on the untouched side.
