Product Details

This unique tool holds wire coils so that they can be efficiently cut into jump rings. Made of stainless steel, the Coil Cutting Pliers feature a jaw which firmly but gently grasps coils ranging from 4.5-9.0mm outside diameter. There is a slit in the jaws which allow the user to quickly cut multiple jump rings with a jewelers saw. Pliers are box-jointed with pvc comfort grips, and 7" long.

Jewelers saw frame sold separately

Instructions for use:

You will need:
  • Jewelers Saw Frame with 2/0 or 3/0 sawblades
  • Mandrels or wood dowels for coiling wire
  • Coiled wire (18-20 gauge round wire recommended)
  • Stay Sharp or other lubricant

Directions:
  • Coil 18-20 gauge round wire using a mandrel or wood dowel-Maximum 16mm (5/8") length
  • Fix sawblade in sawframe. Lubricate your sawblades with Stay Sharp
  • Open pliers and place Coiled Wire against pin stop on inside jaw
  • Close jaws of plier and align plier slot with sawblade. Rest plier on the pin at the head of the pliers. The pin extending from the plier head is used for resting on a table top or bench for better stability when cutting. It can also be placed in a vise or put in a drilled hole to hold securely.
  • Insert the sawblade into the slot on plier at a 45 degree angle. This will ensure the blade cuts only one side of the coil.
  • As you cut, use slow and even pressured strokes. The jump rings should slide onto your sawblade as they are cut. If not, turn over the plier of open plier jaws to remove the cut jump rings.
