This is the microscope set up recommended by Jura for use on a Jura bench or a similar workbench. The newest version of the Jura by GRS stand can now be mounted to a bench top as well as the traditional wall mounting method. Unlike easy to move about GRS Acrobat stands, Jura by GRS stands are set up in a fixed position for micro stone setting. Jura by GRS stands can be adjusted, but adjusting them requires loosening and tightening the 2 set screw adjusting points. The Jura by GRS stand is purpose built for micro stone setting, where the same work is performed over and over from a fixed point. Once the Jura by GRS stand and scope is set up correctly there is no reason to make further adjustments. For detailed information on the Jura by GRS stand, see related products below.
Jura recommends the Meiji EMZ-10 microscope with a protective lens instead of an auxiliary lens, and that is how this complete kit is sold. The standard working distance of the EMZ-10 when used this way is 110mm (4-3/8"), the perfect working distance for microstonesetting when using this scope on a jura bench with jura tools. You can use auxiliary lenses if you need to change the working distance for your particular application, see chart below.

*A word about auxiliary lenses: Auxiliary lenses are used to increase working distances, giving you more space to work between your microscope and your work holding device. Auxiliary lenses increase working distance as they decrease maximum magnification. Since most jewelry work is done at lower magnifications, the loss of the higher powers while using an auxiliary lens is usually not missed. Choosing an auxiliary lens is all about finding a comfortable working position while allowing for adequate space for your tools and work. Many factors need to be considered including scope stand used, bench and chair height, your height and where you position your work holding device; either on top of your bench or closer to the catch tray for example. Use the information below to compare how magnification and working distances change with the various auxiliary lenses available for Meiji microscopes when using standard 10X eyepieces.
