Disc Finishers-What's it all about? Disc finishing is a technique for rapidly polishing or cutting parts. Disc finishing is commonly used in manufacturing because of its incredible speed when compared to other methods of mass finishing. The jewelry industry has only just begun to appreciate disc finishing, but the relatively large cost of a disc finishing system has kept this technique the secret of the largest manufacturers.-How does it work?  The bottom of a disc finisher barrel has special fins that rapidly spin causing a whirlwind of motion to the media and parts. The special barrel design also contributes to the action of the media, producing an extremely efficient motion for polishing with dry media (In this case using the ECOMini Dry Polishing Machine) or cutting with abrasive media in a wet solution (Abrasive media is used with the ECOMini Wet Polishing Machine and the ECOMaxi Wet Polishing Head) . Polishing and cutting times are drastically reduced compared to vibratory or rotary tumblers. What previously took 12 hours to achieve can now be accomplished in 3 or 4. Certain kinds of polishing can occur in as little as 1 hour.

The eco mini does not remove scratches, fix dents or abrasions of any kind.  If a surface is rough, it will still be rough when it comes out of the ECOMini dry polisher. Items have to be perfectly prepared and ready for the final step in polishing before they should be placed in the ECOMini  dry abrasive.
