This is the Swiss torch body with the Hoke style head and 3 tips. We call it the Hoke style head because the tips look very similar to the Hoke torch. The performance, however, is superior to the once well made but no longer great Hoke torch. This set up is the most popular body and head combination as sold in the USA for the Swiss torch line up.
The Hoke style torch assembly has threaded holes on either side of the knurled attachment for holding two of the Hoke tips when not in use. Like the Hoke torch, this head is used by bench jewelers for doing standard jewelry related repairs including ring sizing, re-tipping and general soldering jobs.
The Hoke Head can be used with Propane, Natural Gas or Hydrogen. The Hoke Head cannot be used with Acetylene.
The Hoke Style Head is recommended for use with an oxygen output of between 0.5 to 0.2 Bar (7.25 to 3 PSI)
Manufactured in Switzerland, the Swiss Torch is the most popular jeweler's torch used in Europe. Craftsmen favor it for its balance, precision and versatility.
Some General Information on the Swiss Torch:
The Swiss Torch is four torches in one. First, it is a repair torch with a Hoke style head familiar to North American jewelers. Second, it is a microhead torch, a precision torch with 3 different hypodermic tips for precise soldering and welding. Third, it is a platinum torch, with a special tip that produces a hotter flame for melting and casting a small amount of platinum. Finally, it is a casting torch, with your choice of oxy/gas or compressed air/gas torch heads. The Swiss Torch works best with Propane or Natural Gas. The Swiss Torch is not for use with Acetylene. The Microhead and the Hoke style head can be used with Hydrogen.
I just bought this torch and I must say it lives up to the tasks. very sleek and form fitting to the hand. easy set up and precise. I will definitely be adding the additional heads available.
