Description

The Precision Drill Vise is a well-made bench tool designed for use on drill presses and lathes. Measuring 4-3/4" long by 1-7/8" wide by 1-1/2" tall, this compact vise is built to hold small workpieces securely during drilling operations. Its substantial 1-1/2 lb weight helps keep it stable for many small jewelry drilling applications, though a C-clamp is recommended when securing it to a Foredom drill press or similar equipment.

The vise features hardened tool steel jaws with a maximum opening of 1-3/8" and a jaw depth of 1/2". One side of the jaws includes a vertical slot to help keep workpieces centered, while the opposite side features a horizontal slot running halfway down the jaw face—providing versatile holding options for differently shaped items.

Features

  • Hardened tool steel jaws for durability and secure grip
  • Vertical center slot on one jaw side to help keep workpieces centered
  • Horizontal slot on opposite jaw side for additional holding versatility
  • Maximum jaw opening of 1-3/8" accommodates a range of workpiece sizes
  • 1/2" jaw depth provides a stable grip on small items
  • Compatible with drill presses and lathes
  • Vise weight (1-1/2 lbs) may provide sufficient hold for small jewelry drilling without clamping

Almost a 5 star but not quite

My vise came well packaged and protected in the mail. It is a hefty piece of equipment, well made. The screw moves freely. The jaws open and close smoothly and remain parallel throughout their travel along the vise bed. Problems: Both jaw faces were left with burrs of metal on their edges which needed to be filed off. This was not a significant problem as a quick few strokes of the file took care of the issue. A more troubling flaw is that the screws holding the jaw face in place on the traveling jaw are too long and protrude into the horizontal V groove by about 1/16" of an inch. To correct the problem I will need to remove the two screws, grind the ends of each one and then reinstall. The manufacturer should have used shorter screws.
